      About This Lesson

      In this lesson, students explore environmental changes in their neighborhoods and towns and discuss the reverberating impacts of drought on human and natural resources. Students watch the short film, "When a Town Runs Dry" by Joris Debeij, which examines the impact of the California drought on residents of Stratford, a small, Central Valley farming town. The Central Valley of California is the country’s most productive agricultural region and has been hard hit by the drought that has affected the western U.S. for the last 15 years. ​
